I got a little bored during the Super Bowl when the power when out and decided to bust out the craft supplies and make some Valentine’s Day decor using leftover burlap fabric, stencil letters, craft paint, scrapbook paper and frames.
A rustic version of a LOVE sign was created by slightly tipping the ‘O’ stencil. The heart in the middle was made from scrapbook paper scraps and a heart stencil.
I had a shadow box on hand and layered burlap, scrapbook paper and a glitter foam heart. The picture doesn’t capture it, but foam stickies give the heart a little dimension. The burlap ends were frayed for a rustic feel.
After I realized our initials stood for “Bowel Movement” and had a good giggle, I decided to rearrange the order to put mine first. A plus sign and heart link the initials together.
I actually made this burlap banner last year and it was the inspiration for the rest of the project. It’s paired with a simple glitter heart garland I scored on sale at Joann’s.
A string of white lights were added for a little evening mood lighting (it is for V-Day after all) and a statue couple complete the mantle.
And just like that we have a DIY Valentine’s Day mantel without spending a dime.
